Dr. Katie Jordan

Research Scientist

Dr. Katie Jordan is a research scientist on the Carbon Neutral Strategies team in the Energy & Materials division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). At TRI, she uses energy systems modeling tools to simulate diverse decarbonization pathways for every step of a vehicle’s life cycle, including low carbon steel production, alternative liquid fuels, and the impact of differences in the carbon intensity of regional electric grids on vehicle use-phase emissions. She aims to prioritize equity and justice in her work on the energy transition.

Dr. Jordan earned a B.S. in chemical and biological engineering from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University where she worked with Paulina Jaramillo, Peter Adams, and Nicholas Muller. In her doctoral work, she simulated the technologies and policy instruments necessary to achieve a net-zero energy system in the United States. She also modeled the distributional air quality impacts of deep decarbonization.
