Dr. Matt Gordon
Dr. Matt Gordon is a senior manager on the Battery Factory of the Future team within the Energy & Materials division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). His work draws together decades of work on physics, software engineering, and knowledge management to study how to improve the safety, cost, and yield of lithium ion battery manufacturing. Dr. Gordon's work seeks to fuse new insights from AI and machine learning synergistically with the Toyota Production System by incorporating new sensors, physical modeling, and data architecture to enable a Human-in-the-Loop approach to data-driven kaizen.
Dr. Gordon received his A.B. in physics from Princeton and his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has worked in enterprise knowledge management and data architecture in Silicon Valley for over 10 years, including 6 years at Palantir Technologies, a leading provider of data analysis and machine learning tools. Additionally, Dr. Gordon is the founder and executive director of Climate Tech Action Network (http://climatetechaction.network), an educational non-profit that provides accessible, technical, free public seminars on emerging trends in climate technology and the fight against the climate crisis.
