Dr. Madhur Boloor
Dr. Madhur Boloor manages the Carbon Neutral Strategy team in the Energy & Materials division at the Toyota Research Institute (TRI), where he works at the intersection between energy technology, policy, society, and business development. This team uses energy systems modeling to advise strategic decisions for Toyota, spanning global decarbonization topics, including hydrogen, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, clean transport access and workforce, battery supply chain resilience, material circularity, and more. Through rigorous research done in-house and with university and national lab partners, the team helps navigate the dynamic clean energy and transportation transition.
A materials scientist and engineer by training, Dr. Boloor's Ph.D. focused on sustainable energy research, and he has worked on thin-film solar cells, grid-scale batteries, and solid-state electrolyzers for clean hydrogen production. Upon graduating from Stanford, Dr. Boloor spent the next few years exploring the energy ecosystem through a series of energy policy fellowships at the California Energy Commission (CEC), the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and the Vehicle Technologies Office at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Madhur then moved to Germany to join Kia Europe, where he developed EV charging and battery strategy.
