Dr. Matt Klenk is director of the Future Product Innovation team within the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Dr. Klenk has led multi-organizational multi-disciplinary research teams in cognitive systems, transportation, human-center AI, human machine teaming, and cyber physical system design. Central to all of these projects is how to move AI systems from powerful tools to effective collaborators.

Before TRI, Dr. Klenk was a principal scientist and area manager at Palo Alto Research Center. In that role, Dr. Klenk led research projects for government agencies, including DARPA and ARPA-e, as well as commercial organizations. Previously, Dr. Klenk was a National Research Council Postdoc at the US Naval Research Laboratory.

Dr. Klenk received an M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from Northwestern University.
