Dr. Yanxia Zhang is a senior machine learning research scientist on the Future Product Innovation team within the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Dr. Zhang's area of expertise lies in inventing novel data-driven technologies to sense and understand human behaviors.

Previously, Dr. Zhang worked as a research scientist at FX Palo Alto Laboratory, focusing on vision-based activity recognition. And prior to that, Dr. Zhang was a postdoctoral researcher in the Pattern Recognition & Bioinformatics Group at TU Delft in the Netherlands and KTH in Sweden.

Dr. Zhang received her Ph.D. degree in computer science from Lancaster University, where she was also a Marie Curie research fellow. While in Lancaster, she investigated novel video-based gaze estimation techniques and the use of eye tracking for detecting dementia and health monitoring.
