CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Toyota Research Institute has sponsored new research conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) which measured how fast humans react to road hazards.

The study found that, in “semiautonomous” cars, older drivers may need more time to take the wheel when responding to the unexpected.
