Dr. Tatiana Lau is a senior research scientist on the Harmonious Communities team within the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Dr. Lau's interests lie in leveraging insights from the literature on judgment and decision-making, social cognition, and intergroup relations to build better and more generalizable models to predict and understand human behavior.

Prior to joining TRI, Dr. Lau was an assistant professor in psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, where her research focused on understanding the neural and computational underpinnings of how we identify our social groups across multiple contexts and the effects of group membership on judgment and decision-making.

Dr. Lau completed her master’s and Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard University and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University.
